The Eurasian OpenSees Association (EOS), formerly known as European OpenSees, is a trans-continental, non-profit association of engineers and academics who share a common vision: to advance the development and application of efficient, reliable, and open computational tools for complex engineering analysis and design.
EOS brings together researchers and practitioners from Europe, Asia, and beyond, fostering collaboration across disciplines and geographical boundaries within the field of computational structural and earthquake engineering. Mission and Objectives The mission of EOS is to promote excellence in structural and geotechnical engineering through international scientific collaboration, with particular—though not exclusive—reference to the OpenSees framework developed at the University of California, Berkeley. In particular, EOS aims to:
From European to Eurasian The transition from a Europe-focused organization to a Eurasian association reflects the significant and growing contributions of researchers in Asia to computational structural mechanics and to the development and application of OpenSees. By embracing a broader geographical scope, EOS aims to bridge East and West, promote global cooperation, and support the OpenSees community as a truly international and collaborative ecosystem. EOS and the OpenSees Community As an open and community-driven association, EOS actively supports the open-source philosophy underlying OpenSees. Through its activities, EOS contributes to the dissemination of knowledge, the development of best practices, and the long-term sustainability of OpenSees as a shared research and engineering platform. |
